Following on from our successful inaugural Symposium on 15th July 2019 and the first How to become a Non-Executive Director for Psychologists course on 22nd January 2020, the Association of Psychologists on Boards is delighted to present a second bespoke APOB Training Event on “How to become a Non-Executive Director” by David Doughty who was a keynote speaker at the Symposium presenting on “Psychologists in Boards or Board Psychologists?”

David Doughty CDir FIoD is a Chartered Director and highly experienced Non-Executive, Chief Executive, Chair, Entrepreneur and Business Mentor with extensive experience in small and medium enterprises in private and public sectors. This one-day interactive course is aimed at Psychologists wishing to take up Board roles as a Non-Executive Director, Trustee or Governor, Consultant or Expert Advisor, with an emphasis on the importance of presenting Psychological skills and perspectives with clarity and relevance to Boards and how Psychologists can strengthen Boards of organisations.

David covers essential knowledge about roles, responsibilities, strategy and corporate governance that are key foundations for a Non-Executive Board role and up-to-date thinking on corporate governance and the responsibilities of owners, the Board and employees.

This is followed by practical sessions on identifying Non-Executive Director, Trustee or Governor opportunities, the process of obtaining a first appointment, and performing due diligence before any Board position is accepted, and also examines methods for selection of Board members and organisational issues regarding motivation, induction and reward.

This full day course will take place as an interactive video course using Zoom Video Conference technology and cost £160 (exclusive of VAT) which is a 50% discount on the usual course fee.
